Minister Radebe to deliver keynote address at launch of the 2017 South
African Child Gauge
Minister of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairperson of the
National Planning Commission, Jeff Radebe will deliver a keynote address at the release of the South African Child Gauge 2017
themed “Investing in children and
tracking progress to drive national development”.
The South African Child
Gauge which is published by the Children’s Institute, University of Cape Town
is the 12th issue of an annual review. The report considers how the
implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can create enabling
environments in which all South Africa’s children not only survive but thrive
and to the benefit of the country’s prosperity.
The Child Gauge is being
launched during the Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and
Children that is held under the theme “Count Me In: Together Moving a Non-Violent South Africa Forward”.
The National Development
Plan (NDP) emphasizes that safer communities for women and children can be done
through an integrated approach which aims to mobilize members of society, to
join hands with government in the fight to curb violence against women and
children.
